Developing the Five Core Competencies of the Lean Enterprise
A Certified SAFe® Agilist (SA) strategically guides the adoption, success, and ongoing improvement of Lean-Agile culture in an enterprise. The SA helps define the organizational mission and vision, and communicates strategic decisions and the need for change to all stakeholders and teams. SAs motivate knowledge workers by helping them develop their skills and careers in a way that enhances their capabilities and increases their engagement and commitment to the mission and vision of the enterprise.
Establishing team agility for Agile Release Trains
A Scaled Agile Framework® (SAFe) Agile Team member, represented by the SAFe® Practitioner (SP) certification, is a professional on a team of dedicated individuals who, together, have the skills necessary to define (elaborate and design their component or Feature), build (implement their component or Feature), and test (run test cases to validate their component or Feature) increments of value in a short timeframe.
Applying the Scrum Master role within a SAFe® enterprise
A Certified SAFe® Scrum Master (SSM) is a team-based servant leader who helps teams self-organize, self-manage, and deliver value via effective Agile practices. The Scrum Master supports and coaches the Scrum process and other processes that the team has agreed upon. The Scrum Master also helps the team coordinate with other teams on the Agile Release Train (ART) and communicates status to management as needed.
Advancing Scrum Master servant leadership with SAFe®
A Certified SAFe® Advanced Scrum Master (SASM) is a servant leader who has a broader, systems view of the Scrum Master role and provides integrated practices for facilitating multiple team, program, and enterprise success in larger programs. Advanced Scrum Masters understand Agile and Scrum anti-patterns and facilitate cross-team interactions to support program execution and relentless improvement. Providing this experience and servant leadership helps teams improve flow and quality of work, resulting in cohesive, high-performing Lean-Agile teams that deliver continuous value.
Delivering value through effective Program Increment execution
A Certified SAFe® Product Owner (PO) serves as the customer proxy for the team and works with Product Management and other stakeholders—including other Product Owners—to define and prioritize stories in the Team Backlog so that the system or solution effectively addresses program priorities while maintaining the technical integrity of the features or components the team is responsible for creating. The PO has a significant role in quality and is the only team member empowered to accept stories as done.
A Certified SAFe® Product Manager (PM) serves as the internal voice of the customer for the Agile Release Train (ART) and works with Product Owners to continually develop and communicate the customer vision to the development teams. The Product Manager provides an economically prioritized backlog for the ART, defines the features of the system to ensure that the solution meets relevant standards and other system quality requirements, and participates in the validation of the proposed feature benefit hypotheses.
Optimizing your value stream
Certified SAFe® DevOps Practitioners (SDP) help to optimize flow of value through the Continuous Delivery Pipeline. An SDP maps value streams through the pipeline from idea to cash, and identifies practices that eliminate bottlenecks to flow. They continuously work to improve processes for exploring customer needs, developing, building, deploying, and delivering value. By helping to align people, processes, and technology throughout the organization, the SDP is a key player in establishing a culture of shared responsibility for the full spectrum of solution delivery.
